Refreshing

Companionship in faith is refreshing and I experience it in my family, authors, worship leaders and others. Savanah, my oldest daughter (20), knowing and bonding spiritually with me like no other, has been miraculously lead by the Spirit of God to a few books that she has also shared with me. She has said to me in reference to these books that I would for certain be encouraged by them because of the oneness that the authors and I share, as well as Savanah herself. What a blessing I have been given in Savanah. Almost to good to be true actually.

Now I share these books with you and believe that you will be greatly encouraged by reading them.

The first book is The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer, 1948. He shares that the hearers of the truth of God's Word can find God in intimate conscious personal experience ...............through the presence of God and the faith to experience the reality of his presence. A few sentences from the Preface follow:

"it is not mere words that nourish the soul, but God himself..........The Bible is not an end in itself, but a means to bring men to an intimate and satisfying knowledge of God, that they may enter into Him,that they may delight in His Presence, may taste and know the inner sweetness of the very God Himself in the core and center of their hearts."

The second book is The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning, 1990.

From a Testimony in the book by Rich Mullins:

"In our society, we tend to swear unyielding allegiance to a rigid position, confusing that action with finding an authentic connection to a life-giving Spirit."

And just a few word from the forward by Brennan Manning, the author:

"This book is..........not for academicians who would rather imprison Jesus in the ivory tower of exegesis.....not for red-hot zealots......not for legalists who would rather surrender control of their souls to rules than run the risk of living in union with Jesus.....It is for the wobbly and weak-kneed who know they don't have it altogether and are too proud to accept the handout of amazing grace....It is for the bent and bruised who feel that their lives are a grave disappointment to God....It is for smart people who know they are stupid and honest people who admit they are scalawags."

Be refreshed
